Camp: Mite Squirt    

 
Description: Power Skating/Stickhandling
24 hours of instruction

The goal of this camp is for players to learn the hockey fundamentals that are essential
to building a successful hockey player. These fundamentals start with the skating
stride and includes the transitions from forwards to backwards. A Players shooting
and stickhandling skills will improve with a series of age specific drills that will increase
in difficulty as the clinic progresses. The dry land portion of this camp will develop a
skater’s strength and foot speed. The off ice shooting and stickhandling drills will
work on a player's strength, coordination and hand speed.

Power Skating
  • Knee bend and body positioning
  • Leg stride & leg recovery
  • Use of both edges
  • Weight Shift
  • Balance, mobility & Speed
  • Quick pivots and stops

Stickhandling
  • Win one on one challenges
  • Creat more scoring opportunities for the individual and their team
  • Increase a player’s confidence
  • Be more creative on the ice

Passing/Shooting
  • Understand how power and accuracy are created
  • Know how to utiltize body positioning and weight shift
  • Understand the importance of wrist movement
